Fall is my favorite season because when I think of fall, I think of pie. Having a major sweet tooth, I love all kinds of desserts, from cakes to cookies, brownies, and ice cream. But the dessert that stands above all others is pie. There is just something about a slice of pie that brings me a joy that I can’t get from any other dessert.
Between apple pies, pumpkin pies, and pecan pies, there are a plethora of options to choose from to break your diet. Although a good old-fashioned apple pie will always hold a special place in my heart (and stomach), the cream pie has easily worked its way into my heart like a mistress.
Cream pies have worked their way into the pantheon of great desserts due to their versatility. They are a simple pie consisting of a pie crust and any sort of custard or pudding filling topped with meringue. Cream pies can be adjusted to fit the seasons or to fit any taste preferences from chocolate cream pies to banana cream pies and even Boston Cream Pies.
This fall, I have fallen in love with the simple vanilla cream pie. I’m a simple guy, I don’t need anything extravagant or fancy. That is probably why the simplicity of an apple pie or a cream pie speak to me.
